We have been through the sushi now, I love it. It was a bit too heavy for breakfast though. But is turns out the Japanese don't eat it for breakfast either. We where just trying to be authentic, a bit too much maybe. So now we are back to yoghurt and müsli. But food it everywhere here, you never have to look lang to find most anything you would want of ready made food or restaurants. All the subway stations and the long walks underground seem to keep the Japanese going through the day. They just pop in for a fast Ramen (noodle soup) or some ton katsu (breaded pork) on their way. It is very common to eat alone here. They don't have the same culture of going out as being something special they do with friend. They just seem to eat out most of the time. Seven eleven is one popular place to grab some ready made food on the way. Seven eleven is originally Japanese and has a different function here. It supplies many hungry stomachs including ours. It is also normal to grab a Onigiri (rice ball) after eating at a restaurant. So you don't eat so much at the restaurant.
The Japanese food has been influenced by many different kitchens. They seem to take in most foods from around the world, but instead of copying they Japanese it. Like the rice burger, or the sausage on the pancake. They always seem to take it a step further. Almost all food from restaurants is displayed in the window in plastic, which makes it much easier for us. They often don't speak English and my Kangi (Japanese writing) is not good enough yet unfortunately.
